Heading Back to Monterrey

Melody and I are going back to Monterrey on Thursday 12/10 for a week.  God has provided help for our children so they will all stay behind.  Melody will receive a five day low 24 hour dose ketamine infusion and 4-5 daily high doses of ketamine.  She will be conscious throughout the procedure and able to talk and eat.  We will stay at the hospital the whole time.
Overall  Melody continues to be stronger and she exercises daily.  She is diligent about getting in the pool every morning when I take the girls to school.  Sometimes she will get back in during the evening hours.  But, she continues to have problems with the same injury that caused the RSD.  She has re-injured herself several times, and there seems to be about a five day period to recovery from the re-injury.  Each time she does it some of the RSD symptoms are set off.  Pattern is a reassuring thing.  You would think that this re-injury could be avoided but it really cannot.  Moving around is essential to her overall wellbeing and--as any of you who have every had pain in your neck and back know--you cannot move much without impacting those muscle groups (and the nerves that run in them).

I am asking Dr. Cantu whether other treatments could keep this original injury in check so that the RSD can, in turn, be kept in check as well.  We will see what he says.  Perhaps he can administer a block of some kind.  A friend with doctorate in physical therapy and experience with chronic pain is going to consult with us as well.  Since there is a pattern in what is happening perhaps we can discern a path forward for treatment and possible prevention.

We appreciate your prayers.  Please give praise to God for providing help for us once again.  We have much to be thankful to God for in all of this.
